Earlier this month we announced that the 6th annual fun run would take place on 14 August however, due to circumstances beyond our control, the date has now been changed to Sunday 28 August 2011.
Held for the first time in 2006, the Round Spiggie Fun Run and Walk has gone from strength to strength over the years. The main aim of the event is getting folk together to enjoy a fun activity and think about mental health. Secondary to this is the fundraising element which goes towards our awareness raising programme throughout the year.
Nicola Halcrow, Committee Member said, "The great thing about the fun run is that it brings together a huge number of participants from all walks of life and with varying levels of fitness. Every year we see an increase in the number of participants and we're confident that the 2011 event will be no different."
Participants are invited to complete a 5k or 10k route around the scenic Spiggie Loch in the South Mainland of Shetland. As in previous years there will be Sunday teas and children's activities held in the Dunrossness Public Hall.
Registration for the event will open in May 2011. In the meantime, you can find out more on the 2011 Fun Run page.
