The date for the 4th annual Round Spiggie Fun Run and Walk has been announced by the organising committee.
Scheduled to take place on Sunday 9 August 2009 the fun run and walk will follow the same route as in previous years - starting at the Dunrossness Sports Field heading in a clockwise direction around Spiggie Loch back to the Sports Field and participants can choose a 5k or 10k route.
Last year's event saw a record 444 participants taking part and more than £4000 being raised for the charity.
Julie Halcrow, Committee Member said "The fun run is a fantastic event. For us, it's all about getting folk together to enjoy a fun activity and think about mental health. Exercise helps greatly towards our mental well-being and we hope that we can continue to attract folk of all levels of fitness. Secondary to this, is the level of financial support we receive through the event which goes towards awareness raising activities throughout the year."
"Last year the fun run was sponsored by Lerwick Building Centre Ltd which was a great support and we will be trying to secure a sponsor for the event again this year."
As in previous years there will be Sunday teas and children's activities held in the Dunrossness Public Hall.
