Shetland’s newest charity, Mind Your Head has had a very successful year. Their major event was the Round Spiggie Fun Run/Walk which took place on 1st October and raised over £6000 which included a most generous donation of £1000 from Shetland Aero-generators. A big thank you to them and to all who donated so generously and to those who collected sponsorship for the event. This event will take place on an annual basis.
Mind Your Head will hold their first Annual general Meeting on Weds. 23rd January at Market House and welcome anyone who is interested to come along. One of the organisers of the charity, Shona Manson said ‘We are keen to get anyone interested in mental health issues on board and would like our committee to include people from all walks of life who can contribute in many different ways. Mind Your Head aims to reduce the stigma of mental ill health in Shetland and to promote counselling. We aim to work in partnership with existing services both statutory and voluntary to optimise our achievements and ensure integration into mental health provision in Shetland’.
