Mind Your Head
Annually we organise a Fun Run and Walk, which is held in Cunningsburgh. The aim of the day is to get as many people together, young and old, fit and less so, to promote and raise awareness of the issues surrounding mental ill-health.
This year's event will take place in Cunningsburgh on Sunday 26th August. Online registration is open from Friday 27th April until 1st August. Pre-registration is recommended if you want to ensure you get one of our infamous T-shirts.
Registration on the day will take place at 12.30-1.45, with the run starting at 2pm. Entry fee will be £13, with children under the age of 12 free.
The Fun Run and Walk is the charity’s biggest event of the year and regularly sees in excess of 500 people taking part in what is a fun day out and is an opportunity for people to come together. The aim of the day is to get as many people together from all communities and walks of life to promote and raise awareness of the issues surrounding mental ill-health.
She said: “No matter how many times I have welcomed people to the event it is still really humbling to see the support for the charity and its work. This year will be no different. It is important for us as a charity to raise awareness of mental health and encourage people to be open about mental health.
The Shetland community is amazing in their support for us, not only on the day but throughout the year, and the day gives us the opportunity to formally thank them for their support.
“The financial support from Tulloch Developments Ltd is a huge help in making the event viable and I’d like to thank them for getting involved. Their backing means we are able to celebrate the work done by Mind Your Head and spread our message about promoting a positive attitude to mental health.”
Sunday Teas will be served on the day in the hall from 2pm onwards.
A healthy mind goes hand in hand with a healthy body so what better way to promote positive mental health than to take part in a fun run and walk.Find out more
