Drugs

There are 3 main types of drug:
Stimulants
Make everything seem as though it is going faster, including thought, speech and the body
Depressants
Slow everything down including thoughts, speech and the body
Hallucinogens
Alters the way a person sees, hears and feels things, causing hallucinogenic confusion.
The Talk to FRANK and Know the Score websites give detailed descriptions of different types of drugs and their effects. 'Street names' for drugs are also listed. Both services also offer a helpline.

The community bike project offers an opportunity for rehabilitative support for clients referred from the Community Alcohol and Drugs service. Turning Point Craft Initiative is a Shetland based charity which was set up in 2002. They run a Day Centre which offers a therapeutic healing programme. Clients can learn basic woodturning skills and gain the confidence and motivation needed to start rebuilding their lives. Turning Point Craft Initiative aims to provide a client focussed, community service, supporting people to achieve positive change and freedom from the harmful effects of alcohol/drugs.
